News from the OAPO/Monashee 50+ Club – November 29, 2024

The MONASHEE 50+ SOCIAL was held at the OAP Hall on Saturday, November 23rd. Thanks to the volunteers for putting in the time to make the social successful. It was a great opportunity for people to gather information and get together in an informal atmosphere.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1st:   OAP TREE AND HALL DECORATING.  Decorating will start at 10 AM. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7th:  The 2024 CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE.  The Toy Drive, sponsored by the Monashee 50+ Club, is accepting donations until December 15th.  The fire trucks will be at the Freshmart Parking lot to collect your holiday donations on the 7th.  Your gifts are welcome and will make some children happy this Christmas.  Gift cards and cash are accepted as well.  Donation Boxes will be available at Rusty Spur, Sisters, Fields, Jitter Beans, Ace Hardware, Avenue Pizza, Lumby IDA Pharmacy, Lumby Food Bank, Snac Shac, Lumby library, and the OAP Hall.  Please contact Norma at 778-212-2397 or Cindy at 250-306-6381. The distribution of the toys is slated for December 22nd.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7TH.  CHRISTMAS BINGO. Seating is limited, so please RSVP to Rose Derry at 250-306-0859 by December 4th with your $5 payment. The $5 will provide you with a seat, a soft drink, and two Bingo cards. There will be 50/50 draws, door prizes, and raffles. Doors open at 5:00, cards go on sale at 5:30, and the games begin at 6:30.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14th:  The ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNER. Doors will open at 5 PM, and dinner will be served at 6 PM. Cost for members is $10 and non-members $20. There will be a gift exchange after the dinner and, if you would like to participate, bring a gift of under $20 to put under the tree. The event has a limit of 50 people and spaces are filling up quickly.  Please contact Cindy at 250-306-6381 to add your name to the list. 

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19TH:  The December OAP MEAL. The menu will be turkey soup and sandwich, and dessert. The meal costs $10 and will be served at noon. For take-out orders, please contact Connie at 250-306-9841 the day before the meal.

REMINDERS: During this busy season, don’t forget Tuesday Bingo and the Saturday Market.
