Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc. l have lived in Lumby for over 8 years, you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer: The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.

I had an appointment today in Vernon, after the appointment Tim and I went to the mall to get our pictures done with Santa. So, I thought I would share our photo with all of you.
What a very nice Santa he was. He is right up there with our local retired Santa, Cors.
It’s a different company this year doing the photos, and they ask for a reservation, luckily when Tim and I went there we were the only ones and we got in as we had not made a reservation in advance. This year before I got home this company had already sent me a text and sent the pictures in, last year I had to wait for what seemed forever to get them and I never got all of them. I emailed last year’s company a few times about the photos, and their answer was that there must be something wrong with my email. Well, that sounds a little weird, as the first photo they sent me I got, and I received all their other emails that they sent me, without the pictures but apparently there must be something wrong with my email. Too Funny, oh well I got the ones for this year already.
Today while driving into Vernon and back home the weather was awesome, both Tim and I wore our sunglasses. In Vernon at one time we even had a sun shower, the sun was shining and it was raining, how great is that! All the snow in my yard has disappeared which is unusual for here at this time of year. Usually there is still a lot of snow in my yard and everywhere else. When I look out my windows I don’t see any snow on the mountains.
It makes me wonder if we’ll have a White Christmas or a Green Christmas, it’s been a few years since our weather was like this in December. I remember when I was still living in Kelowna, ( a very long time ago) the weather was almost the same then as it is now, and when February came around we were all wearing our t-shirts and shorts, and of course our sunglasses.
It would be nice if the weather could stay like this, but you never know what mood Mother Nature is in, back east they are getting blizzards, Dease Lake almost hit -48 Celsius. Yikes! That is way too cold for me.
The weather will probably shift here in the next little while, it could get cold and snowy. So, I think even though the weather is great right now, we should still get our snow blower fixed so Tim doesn’t have to shovel big heavy snow like he did a couple of weeks ago when we got that big dump of snow all of a sudden.
The Lumby Valley Times will be taking a well deserved couple weeks off for Christmas, and returning in January which is when I will return as well.
Thank You Andrew for all of your hard work keeping the Lumby Valley Times going all year round.
Thank You readers for your compliments when you see me, or when you call me about my columns I appreciate each and everyone of you.
Merry Christmas everyone see you next year.
