2025 is finally over, hopefully 2026 will be a better time for everyone.
2025 brought grief to a lot of different people, including the horrible death of Rob Reiner, I never met him, but I always liked him, and he was well respected in the Hollywood community no matter what the “Orange Man” across the border says.
The “Orange Man” caused a lot of problems for Canadians as well as all over the world. But one day, one can only hope it will be soon his Karma will get him, and with any luck we will all be here to witness it.
But for now, enough about the “Orange Man”.
Two days before Christmas Eve, we went into Vernon to do some shopping. It was very very busy out there, with every store we had to go to full of last minute shoppers like us. There was hardly any parking anywhere. Every place we went to the only parking we found was way at the back of the parking lot. which was each place I had to go to. I kept thinking to myself “Am I crazy, two days before Christmas Eve, and it ‘s pension day, and I’m out shopping”. No doubt, the other shoppers were thinking the same thing. You had to be crazy to even think about going shopping on that day. Going shopping on any pension day is fairly crazy to begin with, but doing it on a big holiday, yup, that’s crazy! It was okay though, as the weather was pretty good, it wasn’t snowing or raining or even windy, it was actually a nice day for December.
Shopping took longer than usual as the stores were busy inside as well as outside. On Christmas Eve, during the day, I was talking to someone that was heading out that day to do their shopping, I told them, I was glad to see someone crazier than me, going shopping on Christmas Eve is really crazy. We laughed and wished each other a Merry Christmas and went our separate ways.
For dinner on Christmas Eve Tim and I had our traditional Steak and Lobster, the lobster was very small with hardly any meat in it, but it still tasted good. On Christmas Day we usually go to the movies, but we didn’t make it there this year. Instead, we just stayed home and watched Christmas movies on the TV.
New Year’s Eve rolled around and we went to a potluck and games night at the United Church here in Lumby. This was a lot of fun with a small group of people. We stayed until about 11:00 pm then went home. On our way home we drove by the Legion, there didn’t seem to be a lot of cars there which is unfortunate as I think there was a band playing there that night. When we came home I turned on the TV to get the countdown for midnight. I was very surprised to see that there weren’t a lot of people dressed up. When I used to go out on New Year’s Eve I was dressed to the nines as well as everyone else. A lot of times I would go out and buy a new outfit for that night. This year I only wore a nice top and pants. Gone was the nice dress, makeup, and hair done as well as the high shoes. Instead I wore my running shoes, But the people on the TV, that’s a different story. Times have changed. They were out at a nice place, it was New Year’s Eve, and a lot of them were just wearing shirts and jeans. It was actually kind of disappointing to see no one dressed up for this special night.
Regardless of how people were dressed for New Year’s Eve, let’s all put our thoughts together for a much better year for 2026.
For the people I didn’t get to see or talk to: I wish you all the best in 2026, Happy New Year Everyone!!!!
