This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc. l have lived in Lumby just over 8 years you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer: The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.
We still have a land-line number as our cell phones don’t always work out here where we live. I am getting up to ten calls or more a day from “Toll Free Service” or Quebec, Jamaica, numbers. It is very frustrating. I tried blocking them by pressing * 60 but that did not seem to work.
This morning at 7:30 am (which in my book is too early to call someone unless it’s important) I got a call from a number with a person’s name on it, when I answered there was nothing. I called this number back and actually spoke to a real person. This person lives in Winnipeg. Apparently somehow, someone used my number to call the person on the weekend in Winnipeg telling this person that they were from London England and had found the person’s Crypto wallet and wanted to update him on it, and would be calling him back this Monday (probably to get bank account numbers or something)
Obviously my number had been spoofed or phished, or whatever they call it now.
When I spoke to the person in Winnipeg, I told him that I am not from London England as he could tell by my non- English accent from London England, and that I don’t deal in Crypto currency at all now or never will. I also told the person from Winnipeg that if my number comes up again don’t answer it, and if you can just block it as I have no reason or intention of ever calling this person at all.
I think these people that are out there spamming people and using our phone numbers then scamming, trying and sometimes succeeding in taking people’s money especially from Seniors, they should get a real job and earn their keep like we all have to do. I bet if they actually worked for a living instead of stealing, they would know then how it feels to be ripped off, and they wouldn’t do it again.
One day their Karma will get them, it’s too bad that most of us will not be there to see what happens to them.
