This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc. l have lived in Lumby for over 8 years, you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. The Snac Shac reopened two weeks ago with different owners, and a different look.
Meet Jackie, a wonderful lady from Germany.
Jackie has opened a well needed place to do your laundry adding new washers and dryers to the Snac Shac for public use. It’s not your regular laundry mat, here you can put your clothes in the washer, then sit down and have something very tasty to eat with daily lunch specials. I tried out the Blueberry Mandarin Cheesecake; this cake was to die for. Jackie likes to joke with people telling them she can only make German Cake, which is very funny when you see the delicious assortment of food. Originally from Germany Jackie and her family have lived in Lumby for three years living in Lavington before that.
In Germany it is common to have a coffee time and eat their dessert first, then have their dinner later, Jackie and her family still follow that tradition. I love that idea, that way you always have your dessert no matter what!
Jackie has decided to keep the name Snac Shac a well-known name in the community. Jackie is not only keeping the name, but as you go into the store you will see a lot of familiar faces as Jackie has hired a lot of the previous staff back. You won’t find Lottery Tickets and Cigarettes in the Snac Shac and that’s good, you can buy these items in other places locally.
Two Brand new Washers and 2 Dryers, with room for another set, the one thing that Jackie asks is please do not use the machines for washing and drying your pet blankets and beds.
If you haven’t gone into the new Snac Shac yet, you need to check it out and say hi to Jackie and her great staff. Don’t forget to try out the great food as well.
