This past weekend, the Charles Bloom senior girls’ volleyball team competed in the Osoyoos “Rattler Rumble” volleyball tournament. The tournament consisted of 16 teams, including single, double, and even triple A schools. Charles Bloom finished their Friday pool play with a record of 2-1, with victories over Merritt Secondary & Stanley Humphries, and a close loss to Summerland Secondary. Saturday’s playoff run started with a victory over Princess Margaret to put the Timberwolves into the semi-finals. Their semi-final match up was a competitive battle against the provincial #5 ranked, and home team, Osoyoos Secondary. Bloom beat Osoyoos in 3 sets, placing them in the finals where they would face Revelstoke Secondary. The Timberwolves came out firing and beat Revelstoke in straight sets to take the tournament championship.
The Charles Bloom girls showed the depth of their bench as all 12 players contributed in each and every match. Many coaches and referees commented on how the Timberwolves are a dangerous team, regardless of who is on the court. The tournament MVP for Bloom went to Megan Hymas for her consistent setting, smart decision making, and her nearly perfect record from the service line. With this tournament victory and wins over ranked opponents, the Charles Bloom senior girls will likely crack the provincial top 10 as they head into the playoffs.
