The U13 Lumby Stars hosted their home tournament November 10-12 at the Pat Duke Memorial Arena. They welcomed teams from Trail, Penticton, Winfield, Kamloops, Vernon, Langley and Williams Lake.
The Stars performed well throughout round robin play, defeating Winfield 6-3 and Kamloops 6-4 on Friday and Penticton 5-0 on Saturday. Heading undefeated into the semi finals on Sunday morning, the U13 Stars were confident to play Trail. After a slow start they managed a 4-2 win to advance to the finals.
The final game was a showdown between the top team from each pool – Lumby vs Langley. It was a hard fought battle, but Langley came out as the tournament winners squeaking a 2-1 victory.
The Stars are proud of their silver medal finish and look forward to continuing this momentum into league play next weekend.
Big thanks to team sponsor Moving Mountains Earthworks and tournament sponsors Brandt Tractor, Mike V’s Automotive Diagnostics and Repair, Sun Valley Source for Sports and Just for You Spa and Salon. Also thanks to all the tournament volunteers and the officials for their work this weekend.
