The Lumby Stars U11 Team Summerfelt brought home gold this weekend after an exciting and hard-fought tournament in 100 Mile House, capping it off with a dramatic victory in Sunday’s championship game.
The Stars opened tournament play Friday night with an offensive showcase, defeating the Prince George Reapers 9–7 in a fast-paced contest that set the tone for the weekend.
On Saturday, Lumby faced the 100 Mile House U13 Girls Royals in a tightly contested matchup. The Stars battled to a narrow 4–3 win, showing strong teamwork and resilience against a skilled Royals squad.
After a short break, Lumby returned to the ice to face the Prince George Wolves to determine first place in the round robin standings. In a high-scoring affair, the Wolves edged out the Stars 10–8, setting up a highly anticipated rematch in the gold medal game on Sunday.
The championship game lived up to expectations, with both teams locked in a close battle. Tied 3–3 late in the third period, the Lumby Stars surged ahead, scoring three goals in the final seven minutes to secure a 6–3 victory and claim the tournament championship and gold medal.
Lumby Stars U11 Team Summerfelt hit the ice this coming weekend, Sunday January 11 at 8:15 am against Vernon 1 Ovington at the Pat Duke Memorial Arena.
