Pretty Cool Stuff

I went to one of the bigger dollar stores in the last couple of weeks and saw these great rolls of metallic paper that are self adhesive. “Wow”, I thought, “I could do some really cool things with this!” So I of course bought every color they had.

Today was the day to try it out. I pulled out a small wooden box that I had sanded a couple of days ago, (very glad it was a small box) this was no easy task. I thought I would sit down by myself today and work on my projects.  Hahaha boy, was I wrong. It took both Tim and myself to work on the small box. The rolls would not unroll properly no matter what we tried, one of us had to hold the paper down on the edges while the other person cut it. Once the pieces were cut we had to decorate the box, which turned out to be a chore and a half. We started putting the self adhesive paper on the inside of the box, the paper would roll up with the adhesive, there were a few pieces of paper that got wrecked.

Finally! We got the paper on the inside, then we had to put some on the outside, after awhile we decided it would be easier to paint the outside on the smaller areas. Once this was done it looked pretty good. We got it all together, it looked nice. This was a couple of hours ago, and as I sit here writing this column today I looked at the box, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s peeling off in some of the areas. Here comes the paint again, I will pull off the self adhesive paper and paint the box. So much for making things easy.

I have a lot of this self adhesive paper, I will keep trying it on different things, and I am sure there is something that it will adhere to and look amazing, apparently just not this little wooden box.

Ah, well the life of a crafter is not always simple there are usually some little surprises that are unexpected. But of course no matter what I will keep crafting even through frustrations.
