News from the OAPO/Monashee 50+ Club – May 24, 2024

Hope everyone had a lovely long weekend!  The weather was a little ‘iffy’ but still it was really nice to have the extra day!  Actually this weather is okay when we consider the fire season, the more moisture we accumulate, possibly less fires will be occurring!

I’m not certain how the last paragraph printed in last week’s newsletter was included in my write up as I wasn’t aware of the items printed.  I would just like to clarify the following:  Our next General Meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 13th at 10:00 am.  We encourage you to attend as we have Lawyers Joe Dueling and Nicole Hunder speaking on Wills and Power of Attorney at 10:00 am and Our General Meeting will follow at 11:00 am.

Recently, a Steering Committee was formed to update our OAPO Constitution which includes our By-Laws followed by our Procedures and Policies.   It is very important our Monashee 50+ membership attend this meeting as they have the opportunity to accept the By-Law changes recommended by the Steering Committee.  Once the By-Laws are voted on, the Steering Committee will work on our Policies and Procedures, which also is very important!  If you would like to provide input to the above, please contact Pamela Dryda at 250-308-2665.  Pamela was elected as a Director on our Executive last November and is a very active lady!  Prior to coming to Lumby, she had been involved with a few community OAP Organizations, as well as the Provincial OAP Organization, so is well versed on the By-Laws, Policies and Procedures.  She and her committee are looking forward to completing the Policy and Procedures as soon as possible.  And what is even more exciting Pamela will be writing the weekly newsletter for the paper beginning in June!  We thank her for being such a positive advocate for our Lumby Seniors.

Norma Bouzek would like to invite everyone to come to the Monashee Arts Council Village Gallery, to see the art work on display that was created during the Monashee Art classes held at the hall every Wednesday evening.  The Art work will be on display until the end of May!  Also, she is sorry to announce the Yoga Classes have ended due to the lack of participation, which is really too bad!

That’s it for this week!  Be kind, enjoy the moment, and be safe!
