New Trail Society Formed

If you love hiking, biking, and walking the trails in and around Lumby we want you to know about an exciting new volunteer group that has just formed!  We are the Monashee Trail Society and we’re excited to create an active group for all ages. We hope you’ll join us by becoming a member.

Our purpose is to create, maintain and promote a system of well designed, accessible, non-motorized trails throughout the region to foster appreciation, education, protection and enthusiasm for the natural world around us in collaboration with Indigenous, local and government organizations.

Because we’re just getting started, we’re holding a membership drive. A family membership is just $20, adults $10, seniors $5, and under 18s are free.  Membership forms can be printed from https://www.facebook.com/Monashee-Trail-Society or at Lumby Visitor Centre, 1882 Vernon St.

We are looking for members interested in contributing to a growing trail system in the region. In addition to helping develop the trail network, your membership, whether passive or active, gives us a stronger voice with all levels of government in the implementation, maintenance and improvement of trail systems for all users.  We are looking for members and board directors .

Our first meeting will be held via zoom after Mothers Day.  The link and an agenda will be posted on our Facebook page.

We’re looking forward to meeting you on zoom and in-person soon.  We have lots of ideas for safe outdoor walks and will be out on the Salmon Trail on Mothers Day with membership forms.

Lindsay Cochrane, Lumby, BC
President, Monashee Trail Society.
