Curt Reimer, Monashee Toastmaster’s President and Branch Manager of Valley First Credit Union, was arrested by the Vernon Winter Carnival Cops on Feb. 8th. He was looking very sombre as he was led out in handcuffs with the charge of “Crimes Against Hilarity”. Curt was found guilty as charged but thankfully was able to raise bail over a 2 hr. period!!
Monashee Toastmasters Club was relieved to hear that Curt was freed as he is a valuable member of our club. He can be quite “hilarious” in regards to the charges levelled by the Carnival Cops!! Curt joined Toastmasters because like most of us, he was nervous about public speaking. His job requires public speaking and leadership skills and his growth as a Toastmaster over the past 3 years has been phenomenal.
February is Toastmasters Month in B.C. and around the world. Toastmasters clubs help with communication & leadership skills personally and socially, whether volunteering or in the workplace. The growth never stops! Everyone follows their own “Pathway” at a comfortable pace within the Toastmasters International program.
Lumby’s Monashee Toastmasters is now meeting in person at the Lumby Museum as well as on Zoom every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 7 – 8:30 p.m. If you want to get over the nervousness of socializing or public speaking, Toastmasters is the place to do it with a group of fun and supportive members. We all help each other.
We are having an Open House Feb. 28th in person at the Lumby Museum or on Zoom. We would love for you to join us either way. Guests are always welcome to watch us ply our skills and join in the camaraderie!
