Reg Saunder’s family came to Canada in 1904 and were original settlers in Trinty Valley.  Reg was born in 1922 on the family homestead.   He married Thora Smith in 1946 and together they raised five children: David, Winnifred “Freddy” Tim, Jennifer and Sheila.  With the help of the Veteran’s Land Act, Reg purchased Henry Eckert’s farm in 1947 and began dairy farming.  Reg was a father first, farmer, bus driver, Regional District Director, NOCA Dairy Director and historian.  For those interested in the Saunders family history, Reg wrote “From Calcutta to Burnside”, available at the Lumby Museum.
