Marie Anne Gallon came to Canada with her family in 1905 from Brittany, France. After a short stay in Revelstoke, the family arrived in Lumby in 1908. In 1917, she married Joseph LeBlanc Jr. and together they purchased the 329 acre farm north of Lumby formerly owned by Price Ellison. A farm accident caused Joseph’s death in 1956 and eventually the farm was sold in 1961. J.W Inglis School, Cedar Ridge Estates and Val Marie Trailer Park are located on land formerly owned by the Leblanc’s. Marie and Joseph raised 4 children: Evelyn (Adams), Lorraine (Stewart), Margaret (Schneider) and Hector LeBlanc. Marie Anne was born in 1894 and died in 1979.
