In 1949, Armand Quesnel sold the largest pig ever shipped in the Vernon area.  The pig weighed 850 pounds and closely resembled a small steer!

Armand was the son of pioneers Cleophas and Josephine Quesnel.  He was the first child born in Lumby (1893) – born just six days after the town was officially named “Lumby”.  Armand married Marjory “Teddy” Tedder.  They raised two children: Roy and Rhea.  Today, the 300+ acre ranch on Millers Road (near the entrance of Lumby and originally purchased by Cleophas) remains in the Quesnel family, 124 years after Cleophas purchased the property from the Brights.
