Andrew “Beaverjack” Woodward was an American beaver trapper. He was born in Carlisle, Warren County Ohio on August 23, 1850 and worked his way into the Kettle River, later settling in Lumby in 1890.
In 1903 he moved to the Mabel Lake area. In September 1921 he moved to Victoria; then to the United States in 1922 where he died on December 22, 1938 at the age of 88.
“Beaverjack Creek” which flows into Bessette creek NE of Lumby is named after him as is “Woodward Creek” in the Mabel Lake area.
