Lumby Karate Competes

On May 30, 2026, six students from the Lumby Kyokushin Karate Dojo, along with their families and instructor Senpai Jay Shaw, attended the 40th IKOK-C Kyokushin Karate Championship in Ladner, BC. Competitors from dojos across British Columbia and Alberta took part in this final tournament of the season. The IKOK-C Canadian Championship is the longest-running karate tournament in North America.

Five Lumby students competed across multiple divisions, demonstrating strong effort, etiquette, and sportsmanship. Each athlete earned a place on the podium—an especially exciting achievement for those competing at this level for the first time.

Amanda Cadden played a key role in supporting the team, assisting with fighter check-in and coaching the Lumby competitors throughout the event.
