Our Annual Sugar Lake Fishing Derby was a huge success! We had 104 fishermen, 25 for dinner and one dog haha- our biggest turn out yet!
For bulltrout we have Shauna Neib at 6.8lbs, 2nd Sharon Martin at 5.8lbs and 3rd place was Tom Neib with a 4.7 fish.
For rainbow trout 1st place went to Sharon Martin, 2nd to Alex Pinsonneult and 3rd place went to Chris Mennie. There was 1 Burbot brought in by Austin Hodge.
In the Junior department we have Hunter Coridor in 1st & 2nd place and Stevie Irwin in 3rd place!
A HUGE thank-you to our camp hosts Dan, Teresa and crew for finding a place for everyone and for supplying and cooking the pig roast, what a treat!
Thanks to Stephanie Davyduke and her dad for the use of the pig roaster! Thanks to James Hagely for the use of the trailer to pick up the roaster and big thanks to James, Larry and Dave for loading!
Thanks to Last Chanse Welding for a beautiful fire-pit prize, it was the talk of the derby! Thanks to Darcy and Meg for BBQing and to Brigitte, Linda and Whit for doing registration and the weigh-ins!
Thanks to Lori for all her behind the scenes work and a big thanks to Sharon and her husband Ken for loaning us their fish weigh scale when ours broke!
Last of all a huge thanks to Roy for hosting the entire event and to everyone who came out and supported the Legion and fished hard, we look forward to seeing you all next year!
The Harvest Auction is coming up fast. It will be held Saturday, October 5th. If you have anything you would like to donate, or would like to volunteer, please contact the Legion at 250-547-2338 or by email at rcl167bc@shaw.ca. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Open jam is every Thursday from 3pm-5pm, all musicians are welcome, so grab your instrument and come on down! Thursday night is also dart night, sign in time is 6:30pm, games start at 7pm.
We are also looking to see if there is an interest in starting up a pool league. There is a signup sheet in the pool room, so if you are interested, please sign up.
Meat-draws are hosted every Saturday from 3pm-5pm. There is a special draw on September 28th with a grand prize of a $100 meat pack!
Next Karaoke will be hosted on Friday, September 27th from 8pm-11pm. You don’t need to be a member to join in all the fun, but there are some perks if you are. You get a discount on drinks at the bar and you can rent out the Legion’s cabin at Gardom Lake in the summer! We are hosting a membership BBQ this Friday, September 20th from 4pm-7pm. If you come down and renew your yearly membership early, or if you are just getting your first membership, you get a free burger! Memberships are $50 for the year. Burgers will also be available to purchase for $6 for those who are not renewing early or getting a membership.
