To the Editor,
Cherryville Water Stewards and Lumby Water Stewards, all volunteers, test the water in the creeks and the Shuswap River usually 6 times/year. RDNO pays for the testing which is done by CARO in Kelowna.
The latest tests were done on May 14, 2023. Here are the results for Coliforms and E. Coli in the Lumby creeks and the Shuswap River:
- Harris Creek: Total Coliforms 1410, E. Coli: 24
- Duteau Creek: Total Coliforms: 1410, E. Coli: 215
- Mid Bessette Creek: Total Coliforms: 2420, E. Coli: 72
- Lower Bessette Creek: Total Coliform: 2420, E.Coli: 105
- Shuswap River (Wilsey Dam) Total Coliforms: 272, E. Coli: 8
- Shuswap River, (Oddfellows), Total Colifoms: 1120, E. coli: 77
- Vance Creek: Total Colifoms: 299, E. coli:2
Canadian Drinking Water Standards: <1 for total coliforms and <1 for E. coli
