These are the Charles Bloom Secondary School Boys Rugby 7’s, photo taken June 2024. Our community recognized them as athlete of the year for 2024, for their hard work and commitment to the sport. They know their community and families support them 110% and they are so very grateful for this. This tough bunch from Lumby and Cherryville, with their steadfast coaches, made it to Provincials in Abbotsford this past June! That means winning numerous matches against some big schools in the valley. Thank you to Rooster Recyclers Ltd and Pinnacle Logging for their donations to the team to help pay for tournaments, refs and jerseys. The Lumby Community Thrift Store donated $1000 to help pay for their healthy snacks, drinks and groceries while away for three days. This very generous donation not only fuelled their bodies for intense and rigorous matches but encouraged them in spirit as they felt the support from home. This helped them earn a 13th place finish putting them 13th out of every school team in the province!
Thank you to every single one of you cheered these fellows on, who passed on a bag of empties, who donated or shopped at our local second hand store. These are your boys, be proud. Watch for this year’s team at home matches in the spring where you can come and see them in action!
