Why Support and AccountabilityChange Your Results

As I trudge along on the StairMaster, increasing the level every five minutes, it’s easy to feel like giving up. Most of the time I can push through – I have a strong mindset and a real drive to conquer challenges. But even I have off days, and this week I took two breaks, which I never normally do.

If one of my colleagues had been there encouraging me, or even just knowing they were watching, I probably wouldn’t have paused. That’s just how I’m wired – I push harder when others are around. Training is tough for everyone, but when you have support and motivation behind you or just knowing someone is in the room, it’s crazy what you can achieve.

This was clear with our Biggest Loser clients over the weekend. We ran a wall sit challenge, and because it was based on who could hold the longest, it created a mindset to push beyond what people thought they were capable of. There’s no huge physical benefit to holding a wall sit for an extremely long time, but it’s an incredible way to demonstrate the endurance built over time. It’s also pretty boring on its own – but when you add competition, encouragement from other members, and a trainer motivating you, people push far beyond their limits.

Training works the same way. You can go to the gym and go through the motions, but are you really pushing yourself? Do you understand the benefit of what you’re doing and why you’re doing it? Do you know your starting point, and the exercises you need to build strength so that when you return to a movement you once struggled with, you can now conquer it?

A personal trainer is great for more than just making sure you’re performing exercises safely. They guide progression, track body composition, and help ensure you’re actually making progress.

If you enjoy community and want to share the cost of a trainer, small group training is fantastic. It adds accountability, motivation, and that little bit of healthy competition that helps you push further.

At DEEM, we offer a unique small group training style. Our sessions run on a rolling schedule, so the same muscle group(s) won’t always fall on the same day each week. You also train with a variety of trainers, so you never quite know what’s coming. This keeps sessions fresh, engaging, and never boring. It’s a great calorie burn because the sessions are always slightly different, which challenges the body in new ways and encourages continued adaptation – because when nothing changes, nothing changes.

Even if you repeat the same muscle group with the same trainer, the session will look different each time. Every trainer brings their own style, which keeps training fun and challenging.

We do online and in person for small group and 1-1 training. Many of our online clients started with just a resistance band and a mat—and still saw better results than when they tried training on their own in a fully equipped gym.

Ready to stop going through the motions and start training with purpose? Join DEEM today and achieve what you never thought you could.
