Have you seen the news lately? Europe, England, parts of Canada, and other countries are getting heat waves that they have never had before, so many people are dying from the heat, and some are drowning by accident as they try to cool off. And, the wildfires everywhere are horrifying, look at Utah, biggest fires they have ever had. Don’t forget about Lytton BC, what kind of new hell is this! I feel so bad for that town and the people in it.
It’s getting pretty scary out there. I look at all the countries that are on my bucket list. I am actually glad I can’t afford them at this time.
Our weather has been pretty weird as well, too hot, raining, very, very windy, and the last few days my place has been very chilly, so chilly that I actually had to put my little electric fireplace on. It doesn’t really help the whole house, just the small area in the living room. I would put on my pellet stove to heat the house, but unfortunately I am out of pellets and because it’s summer; or so they say, the stores don’t have the stove pellets in stock at this time. The only pellets they sell right now are the ones for BBQ’s which won’t help my stove. I refuse to put my electric baseboards on, Hydro is already costing way too much money. So, instead while I am writing this week’s column I am wearing a long sleeve shirt and a sweater.
When I put my winter clothes away and bring out the summer clothes something in the back of my head always says,” Make sure you leave some long sleeve shirts and sweaters, and pants out, and make sure you leave some winter PJ’s out as well. ” I am sure glad I listen to myself, as that’s exactly what I have been wearing, everything I just mentioned including the winter pj’s at night. It’s one day away from the end of June, and I am wearing winter stuff BRRR.
I am sure it will get overly hot here soon as well, when the heat comes we will all have to be prepared, find ways to keep cool, especially seniors, pregnant women and young children. When the heat comes, if you know seniors that live alone or could be incapable of doing things by themselves or maybe they don’t have air conditioners or other ways to keep cool, check on them on a daily basis and they could need your help.
In the meantime, don’t forget to take care of yourselves as well.
