The Vernon U13A Female Lakers Zone team hit the ice this past weekend at the Pacific Coast Rep Ice Classic, facing strong competition from Seattle, Langley, Richmond, Kamloops, and Whitehorse.
The Lakers Zone team features talented players from Lumby, Vernon, and Salmon Arm. Representing Lumby are Lakers returning players Brooklyn Stanek and Emmalee Ruesch, along with newcomers Dani Fehr, Jovi Fehr, Sarah Ladd, and Arya Church.
The Lumby community is also well represented behind the bench, with Head Coach Mati Glover, Assistant Coach Shane Glover, and Assistant Coach Chris Church leading the team.
The Lumby girls made their mark on the scoreboard over the weekend, with all Lumby player’s getting goals throughout the games and goaltender Jovi Fehr posting an impressive 3-0 record in net. The team’s hard work paid off as the Lakers came away with bronze after an exciting final game on Sunday afternoon.
The Lakers are now gearing up to host their U13A Fall Classic Tournament, taking place November 7–9. Come cheer them on at Kal Tire Place North — starting Friday at 3:30 PM vs the Calgary Outlaws, followed by Saturday games at 11:15 AM (North Island Impact) and 6:00 PM (North Shore Winter Club). Sunday’s game schedule will depend on round robin results.
Looking ahead, the team is proud to announce they will also be hosting the 2026 U13A Female Rep Provincials, set for March 19 – 22, 2026 in the Lumby, Vernon and Armstrong area.
