The BCSF Snowmobile Excellence Awards … honor[s] individuals, snowmobile clubs, associations and businesses in British Columbia that, in the recent past, have made a significant contribution towards showcasing the popularity and the overall appeal of the sport, have made a remarkable effort to promote solidarity and responsibility within the snowmobile community or who have offered exceptional quality of service to snowmobilers.”
Katie Squair – BCSF Pat Whiteway
Outstanding Snowmobiler of the Year 2020
This award is for an individual who has shown an extraordinary level of dedication to improving the sport of snowmobiling in BC and who exemplifies the high standards and selflessness that Pat Whiteway maintained during his lifetime. The award is meant to be the highest award available to a BC snowmobiler. The recipient must have been involved in organized snowmobiling for most of their adult life or their impact on the sport in BC so significant that time involved could not be overlooked.
Katie has been the president of the Lumby Mabel Lake Snowmobile Association for the past two years. She was an integral part of the club’s 20th Anniversary Family Day event which saw a record-breaking number of local
kids come out to take part in our sport, which was hosted in Lumby back in January. Katie advocates for the safety of snowmobiling, and is a founding member of the Lumby Sled Buddies Facebook group which brings sledders together so no one rides alone.
Katie networks with clubs throughout BC, by attending other club’s events and BSCF bi-annual meetings which makes our club even stronger.
The Lumby Snowmobile Club is very proud to have her as our leader and role model.
Kevin Hillier – BCSF President Award 2020
This award is given out by the BCSF President to whom he/she wishes to bestow the highest honor.
Kevin is the Lumby Mabel Lake Snowmobile Association’s Director of Corporate Governance. He does amazing job not only keeping our club on track with all the regulations we need to follow but also volunteers with the
Vernon Snowmobile Club, Hunters Range Snowmobile Club and Vernon Search & Rescue. The Club is amazed at his level of commitment and passion; we view him as a Leader of Leaders, and greatly appreciate his advice and guidance. Receiving this award is the highest honor and he deserves so much more.
Congratulations to both of our recent winners! Thank you so much, without these two outstanding members, our club wouldn’t be the same.
In prior years volunteers associated with the Lumby Mabel Lake Snowmobile Association have also won the Family of the Year (Drew & Liane Leger 2019); Groomer of the Year (Cole Derry 2017); and Snowmobile Club of the year (2016).
