Sunshine, Laughter, and Lasting Memories – Month in Review

This month at the Seniors Drop-In, we enjoyed spending more time outdoors and making the most of the beautiful weather. Not only did we play a variety of outdoor games, but we also planted flowers to take home and enjoy. June was filled with special guests, trivia, exercise, crafts, and plenty of laughter.

With the cooler mornings, we were able to spend several program days outside this month. Participants enjoyed friendly games of bocce ball, plastic axe throwing, and cornhole. We also stayed active with a fun seated Zumba session and a golf putting game that brought out everyone’s competitive spirit. We hope July continues to bring cooler mornings so we can keep enjoying our time outdoors together.

This month, we were pleased to welcome a constable from our local police department, who provided valuable information about fraud and scam prevention. It was an informative presentation that helped everyone stay up to date on the latest scams affecting our community and learn ways to protect themselves.

We were also fortunate to continue welcoming students from the local high school to our program. Several students joined us this month for a newly learned dice game and a lively round of Family Feud. It has been wonderful to see the friendships and connections that have formed between the students and our seniors throughout the year. Although the school year has come to an end, we look forward to welcoming them back in the fall and continuing to nurture these meaningful relationships.

Our creative side was busy this month as well. We enjoyed two fun craft projects, the first being flower planting pots. Each participant planted beautiful flowers to take home and enjoy throughout the summer. We also learned a new skill and tried our hand at basket weaving. It was a relaxing day filled with conversation, creativity, and friendship. The baskets turned out wonderfully, and everyone was proud of their finished creations.

As always, thank you to everyone who joined us this month. We look forward to another month of fun, friendship, and new experiences together in July!
