To The Editor,
I am up early in the mornings and noticed a Village truck driving very slowly and a village worker walking behind it. I asked what they were doing and he replied he was spaying the weeds on the curb and roadside. I asked with what and he said ROUNDUP.I told him I didn’t want that near my property and he started cursing me out.
Last I heard, the Village claimed they didn’t use this. I know it is still legal somehow to use this toxin but why are they sneaking around at 5am when I have never seen a worker up this early doing anything else?
I literally use vinegar which is more effective and non-toxic, considerably cheaper and completely safe.
I don’t like the idea of spraying where children are biking and playing and making chalk drawings directly where this is being sprayed. I expected this in 1950 or 1960 but really?
