Not unlike any other month, November was a fun filled, busy month at our seniors drop in. Programs showcased crafts, exercise, various games and live music.
In reverence of Remembrance Day, the seniors created poppy wreaths for the cenotaph and plaques. Some shared pictures of loved ones from their days in service for our country. It was wonderful to honour them by sharing stories and memories passed down from generations.
Holiday thoughts began to shape as November progressed so the first art class featured DIY wooden Christmas door hangers and miniature snowman décor.
Later in the month, one of our many talented seniors donated her time and supplies to host a Christmas card crafting class. This thoughtful volunteer has helped us do several card classes in the past and it is always enthusiastically well attended. She brings her own stamps, an arrangement of card stock, and a wide variety of festive embellishments. It is so appreciated to have Christmas cards to give to family and friends that have been handmade.
At the end of the month, we made tabletop Christmas trees and decorated them. They were the perfect size to fit in smaller spaces and we lovingly made extra to give out to community seniors that may not have a lighted tree of their own. A big thank you to the Lumby Thrift Store for generously donating many of our supplies and decorations for this project .
Whether we are having a game day, making our own creations, having popcorn movie time, exercising, enjoying live music or dining on a delicious meal, we always have a great time and delight in the socialization.
We look forward to December bringing much more holiday cheer and we will celebrate our local seniors.
