On this beautiful pre-fall morning I am counting my blessings and feel so grateful to be living in the village of Lumby. We have it all. We have the convenience of all the amenities and the treasure of a small town in the country.
How wonderful to zip into our local grocery store and see faces we know and be able to quick visit with neighbours. Freshmart stocks such a variety of goods that I am always thankful for being just a couple of blocks away. Local fresh and natural foods is available at our Co-Op. We have good restaurants and a variety of places to eat out and take out. Fields and the Dollar Dollar Store allows us to purchase extras affordably. Our Post Office is something I’ve never taken for granted.
Our Ace Hardware and Rusty Spur supplies all of our animal and home/yard needs. Our IDA Pharmacy is so resourceful where we receive personal care. Our Monashee Dental cares for dental health and Bloom Wellness for all our Chiropractic and Massage needs to keep us moving. The Lumby Health Centre houses our doctors and providing Lab services, X-ray services & other related programs. We have a veterinary clinic, and boarding and grooming businesses for our pets.
We have lawyers and accountants to help with our legal needs and insurance to help protect us. We have churches to gather together and strengthen our walk with God. Our community is run like clockwork with a well-run Village Office. We never take for granted our water, sewage and garbage utilities and maintained amenities. The protection from our Fire Department and RCMP are vital and when the power goes out, we quickly remember how glad we are to have electricity and gas. We have two gas stations, a car wash as well as tire stores and garages to keep us mobile.
And it’s all our service clubs and volunteers that provide the services as The Good Food Box, the Food Bank, the Thrift Store and Whitevalley Community Resource Centre. I’m sure I have forgotten some but Lumby is a great place to live. Pamela Dyrda 250-308-2665
