As I sat in front of my computer writing this week’s O.A.P.O. Monashee 50+ Club column, I occasionally looked out my window on a rainy autumn day, full of brilliant fall colours, but not looking too promising for taking part in any outdoors adventure or even finishing bedding down the garden for the winter. It’s a time for thinking about the indoor activities that you can enjoy during the new season. It may be a good time to think about joining the Monashee 50+ Club and taking part in the activities that are put on by the club and by the groups that gather at the OAP Hall. Membership is a bargain at $20.00 for the year.
On Friday, I spent a delightful two hours at the OAP Hall visiting with the ‘Fiber Fridays’ group, who gather from 10:00 am-12:00 am on Fridays. Whether your project is knitting, crochet, needlework, spinning, weaving, or any of the other myriad fiber arts, you are welcome to join the group. There is a donation of $5.00 a month. In the warmer months, the group meets at the park to savour the fine weather and the sights and sounds of the village. Fiber Fridays is a social club whose members are willing to share their knowledge and help each other, even beginners, in a relaxed and informative atmosphere. The aim is to be productive, enjoy each other’s company and laugh a lot.
REMINDERS: The AGM is Thursday, November 14th. The positions of president, secretary and three directors need to be filled. Contact any present executive member for nomination forms. These forms need to be returned by the November 14th meeting.
BINGO: Doors open at 5 pm as does the concession. Card sales open at 5:30 pm and the games begin at 6:30 pm.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the gorgeous fall colours.
