What a lovely weekend we had for Mother’s Day! Hope all you Mother’s were treated very special! The weather seems to be warming up quite quickly and I’m sure many families are going to be camping out this long weekend! Please be mindful of how dry our forests are and pray for no fires!
Our Pharmacist, Kyle Brewer and his student Pharmacist, Priet , I apologize if I spelled your name wrong, spoke at our General Meeting. Priet spoke on Nutrition explaining how important it is for us to maintain the nutrients we need in our body so our bones and muscle stay intact! Kyle went over the extra care Pharmacists can now cover which is quite enlightening! They include the following: providing medication for certain medicines, extending chronic prescriptions for up to two years, helping us set up an appointment with ‘Online Doctors’ if we don’t have a Doctor and are interested in talking to one, and administering Optimal Vaccines including pneumonia, and shingle vaccines. Both were excellent and provided us with great information!
A couple of items to share from our General Meeting include the following: the OAP Raffle winner of $500 was Stuart Anderson. Stuart donated $250 back to the OAP Club which was very much appreciated! Thank You for doing so! The raffle brought in $1,250.00 for the club! The bathroom downstairs is now working for men only, but it just needs a door and apparently they are in the process of dealing with this! Lumby Days is just around the corner and we will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday from 8:00-11:00am. Volunteers are needed so if interested in helping out please contact Cindy 250-306-6381 or Lauren 250-540-5186. In the afternoon, the Hall will be used for a Cooling Station with a concession from noon to 5:00 pm. We will have more information on this next week. Our Monthly Luncheon is today May 16th, with doors opening at 11:00 am and lunch served at 11:30. The meal sounds quite delicious! It’s Salisbury steak, fried onions, gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, a bun, with apple crisp and ice cream for dessert!
That’s it for this week! Enjoy the long weekend, have fun, and be safe!
Monashee 50+ voting membership to accept By-law changes to be made and filed with the Societies Act as recommended by the Steering Committee at the next General Meeting, June 15th at 11:00am after the Guest Speakers, Lawyers Joe Dueling and Nicole Hunder at 10:00, speaking on Wills and Power of Attorney. Please attend these two very important events.
