Moments in Time – Photos & Memories from the Lumby Museum – Walk to the Moon

In April, 1985, just as the National Hockey League playoffs were being broadcast on TV, a group of feisty Lumby ladies decided to participate in the Walk to the Moon challenge rather than watch  hockey with their husbands.  The challenge was taken up by Canadians across the country – attempting to walk the equivalent distance from Earth to the moon – a distance of some 384,400 kilometres.  By the way, the 1985 NHL Champions were won by the Edmonton Oilers, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 8-3.
