Remember in the mid 1970 and 1980’s when the Truck Rodeo was a popular event during Lumby Days? It was Bob Pointer and Harold Major who staked out the course on a field where the Monashee Mews Care Facility is located today. A truck dealership would donate the truck and trailer and a local mill would loan 2 tiers of logs for the competition. With a clipboard and timer in hand, Bob and Harold would score 8 to 10 of Lumby’s best of the best professional truckers as they made their way through the obstacle course. One of the winners, Gerry Desilets would later compete in World Truck Rodeo competitions.
