Moments in Time – Photos & Memories from the Lumby Museum – The Old Goose – June 11, 2021

The “Old Goose” or “Galloping Goose” was used at the Henry Sigalet & Co. Pole yard to load and unload poles and logs from 1936 to 1960.  The “Goose” had a 60 foot boom and was a converted steam shovel formerly used by CN Railways.  The “Goose” was purchased from CN for $3,000.00.

In this photo are left to right: Pat Currie, Pete Jones, Avila LeBlanc and George Gshwender.  Standing on the load of poles is John Kirchsteiger.
