The Lumby High School on Glencaird Street opened in 1950 and cost $130,654.00 to build.  In 1971, the school was renamed Charles Bloom Secondary School.   The school is unique in that it is the first secondary school in the province to adopt a semester system and the only school in the District to offer a forestry program.
