Recently, Linda McAllister donated her 77 year old dolls and buggy to the Lumby Museum. These dolls are likely composed of sawdust and glue and are in remarkable condition for their age. Linda is the daughter of and Herma Kirchsteiger – John came to Lumby in 1936 and married Herma Gutruf in 1938 in Lumby’s Roman Catholic Church. John was a well-known pole maker, working first for Henry Sigalet and later for MacGillis and Gibbs. Linda has a sister, Doris (Kemsley). Both Linda and Doris still residing in Calgary. John passed away in 1983, and Herma in 1994. The museum is closed for the season, but be sure to view these remarkable artifacts when we open again in July 2026.
