Have you noticed the mural of a horseman as you enter Lumby’s Bank of Nova Scotia?  The horseman is James McAllister (1899-1979) who arrived in our area at the age of 14.  While he was well known for his skills of training and riding horses, he held many jobs, including Lumby’s Postmaster from 1929 to 1947.  He married Ada Eagle in 1919 while overseas and together they had 5 children: Eileen (Wejr), Beryl (Nerling), John, Terrance and Bernard.
