Did you know Lumby’s first street signs were made by Don Waldron (1901-1986)?  Don came to Lumby in 1947 with his daughters Dorothy (married Ron Catt) and Phyllis (married George Dooley).  The family lived in a tent until January 1948 when they moved into the house Don built at
2041 Catt Avenue.

Don was a mechanic by trade but spent many hours volunteering his time building playground equipment and supporting hockey, bowling, golf and curling in Lumby.  In 1985, Don Waldron was named Lumby’s Citizen of the Year.
