Meet Murray

Murray Freeman, a name you might recognize in our small town, and if not the name then the smiling face. This year Murray was recognized as citizen of the year. He is an amazing citizen and volunteer in our town.

Murray’s parents and siblings came from Langley and he was the only child born in Lumby. Murray grew up on a farm off of Mabel Lake road. He recalls the early mornings having to wake up to feed and milk the cows. So, it will come to no surprise that Murray would grow up to be such a hard worker.

He first got into volunteering in Vernon. He volunteered at the old down town Safeway where he shopped and delivered for local shut ins. He did that for a couple of years. He now volunteers for many groups and societies here in Lumby.

He has volunteered for years at Saddle mountain Lounge with the Whitevalley Community Resource Centre, at the Museum in the summer, playing music at the farmers markets, and helping with the Lumby Lions when needed.

He is a great friend to all and always there to lend a hand or to crack a joke.

Thank you Murray for all of your hard work.

Whitevalley Resource Center would like to thank our sponsors, The United Way, and Interior Health.
