Well the rain and the cooler weather is a good thing. All though we still have a lot of smoke in the atmosphere it is getting better. All of that being said I hope you all had a nice Labour Day weekend.
This weekend is the annual Legion’s Fishing Derby. It starts at noon on Friday Sept. 8th and ends on Sunday the 10th. As I said before the fees are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for juniors (12 and under). There are prizes for the biggest Rainbow/Kokanee, Bull Trout/Dolly and Burbott. On Saturday night there is a potluck dinner. Everyone brings their favourite camping dish and we will supply the hamburgers and hot dogs. It all comes to an end Sunday at noon then the prizes will be given out.
Once you have recuperated from the Fishing Derby on the next weekend Saturday Sept. 16th we are having an extra $100.00 meat pack draw at the Meat Raffle. So, if you have any energy left or didn’t go fishing, come on down to the Meat Raffle.
Now that summer is over the the fall and winter sports seasons are starting up. The Darts league will be starting on Thursday September 14th and will continue until the end of April. Registration will start at 6:30 pm. For those who want to join the league it’s $5.00 for the season and $2.00 each dart night, Plus $1.00 for the Snowball if you wish to participate. On October 22nd the Shuffleboard league start. There again the league fees are $5.00 and $2.00 for each Shuffleboard day. Also for those who just want play darts or shuffleboard you can just come and pay $2.00 to play, you don’t have to be a league member.
September 22nd we are having a Membership drive. That night we are taking memberships. If you wish to pay your dues that night you will get a free hamburger. For those who don’t want to pay their dues or those who aren’t members you can buy a burger and your favourite beverage for $10.00. Later on that night we are having a Karaoke in the lounge.
On October 14th we are having our annual Harvest Auction and Dinner. There will be more information on this in future articles. Also we are planning the Twelve hours of music event in November. Again there will be more information on as I get it.

The Gardom Lake cabin is still available and will be after the Thanksgiving Day weekend, call 250-547-2338 to book a time.

Since I’m on Gardom Lake, I would like to take the time to thank Chanze and Meg Irwin and Megs parent for the work that they did on the cabin. Meg’s parents donated and milled the Cedar trim. It looks beautiful, on behalf of the members, thank you very much for the work you did.
