Legion News – September 29, 2023

So the rain came a little later than I expected, but it’s still came and it’s welcome. I hope everything else is going well.

Last Friday we had our membership drive.  Eighteen members renewed their memberships and there were nine new membership applications. It was great to see so many younger members show up.

There was also a Karaoke on Friday night. I hope everyone enjoyed that. The next Karaoke (Scaryaoke) is on October 27th. So come on out in your best Halloween costume.

Also last weekend we held the annual All Sports Awards . At the time I wrote this article I didn’t have the information on the awards, I will put the in the next article.

We have settled on a date for the Twelve Hours of Music, it will be on December 2nd. Right now we are rounding up musicians and bands who are willing to donate about a hour and half’s time to the show.

On October 14th we are having our annual Harvest Auction and dinner. Right now we haven’t settled on the dinner menu, however we are now excepting donations for the auction. I know it’s getting a bit late for fresh Fruit and vegetables but there are other things to donate. We are excepting donations of Home baking, preserves, jams and other items. You can bring to the Legion when the lounge is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays after 3:00 pm. If you do have fresh fruit and vegetables please don’t bring them in until October 11th.

I missed out thanking some volunteers who installed a ceiling in the Gardom Lake Cabin. The Tyler Plante family and Steve and Shelly Lumley from Gilberts Supplied and installed the fan. The cabin is still open until Thanksgiving. It will be closed October 15th.

The next is October 18th please make every effort to attend. I must warn you that the Annual General Meeting is on November 15th, it is imperative we have a quorum for that meeting. So if you want the Legion to keep operating be there at that meeting. We should have at lease twenty members attending.
