It’s Great to Be a Canadian

I know people are wondering what we can do for Canada Day this year during the COVID 19 as there will not be a lot of outdoor festivities with a lot of people.

Well you can socially distance with a small group of friends, or you now use zoom, google chat, Facebook live etc.

Whatever it is that you choose to do have fun with it.

Don’t forget that even in all this uncertainty that we live in right now,  Canada is still a very beautiful, wonderful country.

People all around the world come to visit us, as we are considered to be very polite, very courteous, and very easy to talk to.

We have awesome athletes, and hey we invented Hockey!

We are also known to have more than 2 million patents which gave us big inventions like the Insulin, The Telephone, Cable TV.

We are known to have a low crime rate as compared to other countries.

We have more clean water then other countries.

Our Ski resorts are known worldwide, there are even some people that come from Switzerland to ski on our famous hills.

We have gifted artists everywhere. The singers and actors that come from Canada are truly amazing. Just to name a few of them: Colin James (one of my favs) Byran Adams, Drake, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young( who by the way although he lives in the USA, he never became an American Citizen by his own choice.) The Tragically Hip,  Shania Twain, Ryan Reynolds, Keanu Reeves, Dan Ackroyd, Donald & Kiefer Sutherland, and so many more!

Did you know that Canada has more lakes than any other country? Saskatchewan has the most lakes in all the provinces.

We have three oceans that’s right I said 3: Pacific, Arctic, and of course Atlantic.

Did you know that Egg Cartons were first made here in Canada in 1911 ?

Hey and let’s not forget about the great food that was invented right here in Canada: Maple Syrup of course is the on the top of my list, as not only does it taste good but it brings back warm memories, when I was a little girl our school went on a field trip where they showed us how they used a tap and a bucket getting Maple out of the trees, wow was it ever good .Maple Syrup is what we still use in our house for our pancakes and waffles, and of course we like different things with maple flavoring. for instance, Bacon cured with Maple yum yum. Speaking of Bacon, we even have a bacon named after Canada, that’s right Peameal Bacon is also called Canadian Bacon.

Coffee Crisp, that yummy chocolate bar was made in Canada.

How about Peanut Butter, yup it’s Canadian, so are Caesars, Chinese Buffets, The California Roll, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Nanaimo Bars (Tim’s Favorite) Poutine, Hawaiin Pizza, Split Pea Soup, Ketchup Chips ( yuck for me, but other people like them)

and believe it or not Kraft Dinner is also Canadian made. There are other foods as well, but I need to stop naming them as they are making me hungry.

We even have our own song: Oh Canada, every Sunday at noon I sing this song, and this week I will be singing on Canada Day as well.

Come On you know how this song goes, sing it with me. (song copied from the Internet)

Oh Canada
Our home and native land
True Patriot Love in all of us command
With glowing hearts, we see thee rise
The true North strong and free
From far and wide
Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee
God keep our land glorious and free
Oh, Canada, we stand on guard for thee
Oh, Canada we stand on guard for thee.

Great Job everyone give yourselves a great big hug you deserve it
