We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our incredible volunteers. Your time, kindness, and dedication make a meaningful difference in our community every single day. Whether you’re offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or sharing your skills, your impact does not go unnoticed. Because of you, programs continue to thrive, people feel supported, and our community grows stronger and more connected. We are truly grateful for everything you do.
National Volunteer Week in Canada is a time to recognize and celebrate the amazing volunteers who help strengthen communities across the country. This year, National Volunteer Week takes place April 19–25, 2026 and British Columbia Volunteer Week is April 27- May 3rd, 2026. Communities across Canada rely on volunteers to keep programs, services, and organizations running strong—and Lumby is no exception. Our community is filled with dedicated individuals who give their time and energy to make a difference. Volunteers are at the heart of what makes our village thrive.
Volunteering not only benefits the community—it also brings meaningful personal rewards. Some of the many benefits include:
- Building connections and a sense of belonging
- Meeting like-minded people and forming friendships
- Learning new skills and gaining experience
- Improving mental health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression
- Developing confidence and social skills
- Finding a sense of purpose and fulfillment
- Stepping outside your comfort zone
Nearly half of Canadians volunteer. While volunteer numbers declined after the pandemic, the need for support in our communities has not.
The great thing about volunteering is that it doesn’t require a huge time commitment. Whether you can give a little or a lot, every contribution matters. In our small but mighty village, there are many opportunities to get involved and make a difference.
