CRASH!

Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road  or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc.  l have lived in Lumby just over 8 years you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer:  The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.

I was watching TV, the other day and I heard a big crash coming from my yard. I got up from my chair and walked outside.

My heart sank. There it was lying on the ground, my red arbour. We all knew it was coming, but I thought I had some time, as the day before it crashed to the ground I had gone out and tightened the ropes that I had attached before around the piece of cement that was there to help it stay up.

Apparently that did not work! It fell down anyway.

So, I grabbed an end of the arbour and pulled it to the other side of the gazebo to get it out of the way, as I was doing this I thought to myself ” I don’t want to take it to the dump, as I really like my arbour. I am going to use what’s left as a trellis against the house and make sure it’s secure. That way when the birds, bees and butterflies see it they will still rest on the arbour being attracted to the red color ” “yup” I thought, “what a great idea”.

All is not lost. As I continued to walk through my yard, I noticed that my tulips leaves were looking pretty healthy and they should be opening soon, that will help to add color. But, in the Tulip garden to my dismay were WEEDS coming up already as well. Argh, I hate the weeds. They are so time consuming, I don’t use any sprays so I have to pick them out constantly. But in the end it is all worth it, the weeds come out and the beautiful flowers in my gardens flourish. You just  have to take the good with the bad I guess.

I will happily sit on my swing when I am not pulling weeds out to see all the wonderful birds, bees, and butterflies that have graced my yard in their ways.

It’s kind of a rainy day today, but soon the sun will be shining again, I will be wearing my sunglasses and working in my gardens.

Remember, what I like to say: “it’s always a good day when you can wear sunglasses!”

And, the good days are right around the corner.
