Almost Famous
May 1 – June 3 2023

We’ve all done it from following a tutorial online, watching a Bob Ross video, to trying our best to recreate ‘Starry Night’ by Vincent van Gogh, we’ve likely all ‘copied’ anothers work or style, it’s how we learn after all by immitation. As we endevor to create our own style we often emulate and at times down right copy the form of another artists, this is how artists grow and how art forms themselves evolve over time.
“A Hippy Birthday, Woodstock”

The Monashee Arts Council is pleased to present the Lumby Days photography contest and Art show: “In the good ol’ summertime”.
What makes you think of summer?
A favourite summer activity? Hiking? Swimming? Childhood memories? A favourite vacation spot or somewhere you haven’t been and would like to go? Maybe it’s something simple, like sunlight on water or beach umbrellas dotting the shore of a lake. Whatever it is, we want to see it. So get creating and chase away the winter blahs with sunny summer inspiration.
All mediums are welcome for the art show. The first and second “People’s Choice” will receive cash prizes. Entry forms and more information can be found online at www.monasheeartscouncil.com or at the Village Gallery 778-473-3029 (1975 Vernon Street).
