Lumby Barn Board Quilt project

 Magic of the Still Life

From ‘Sunflowers’ by Vincent van Gogh to mosaics and frescos from ancient civilizations such as sites in Pompeii, Still life painting has allowed artists to explore composition, symbolism and the beauty of the everyday items through various mediums.

Through the use of inanimate objects, arranged in an appealing way artists have been able to explore at times symbolic meanings of life’s fragility and mortality, while for others it maybe art for art’s sake.

Be sure to come in as our own local artists explore the beauty of the everyday through the magic of Still Life.
