After a long hiatus, community acting classes are making a comeback in Lumby, reigniting the town’s passion for the performing arts. Previously held twice a week, these classes bring together aspiring actors of all ages to learn, laugh, and connect.

In the spirit of Lumby’s vibrant theatre history, including the Monashee Arts Council Drama Committee’s pre-COVID production of Rumpelstiltskin at the OAP Hall, a new program will launch on January 20, 2025. Classes will run every Monday from 3:30–5:30 PM at Charles Bloom Secondary School.

Open to Lumby residents aged 8 and up, this affordable program offers a cross-generational opportunity to explore scenes, characters, and improvisation in a supportive and fun environment. Sessions are just $10 per student (1, making it easy to join the fun and let your creativity shine!

Will Cullen, a community activator and acting instructor from Vernon who will lead the classes, said, “Acting is about more than just being on stage—it’s about building confidence, creativity, and connections. I’m thrilled to help bring this program back to Lumby and look forward to working with such a vibrant community.”

For more details, contact the Monashee Arts Council. Don’t miss your chance to be part of Lumby’s next theatrical chapter!”
