A Look At March At The Seniors Drop In

March was a fun filled month full of singing, crafting, laughing, magic, and eating. March 1st we had a sing – a – long at Saddle Mountain Lounge with the seniors.  Everyone was given an opportunity to request songs. Then we all sang a long to the songs, with the lyrics on the TV.

We also reintroduced knitting club with the seniors once a month. This was enjoyed at the Lounge pre-covid. We are happy to have Janice come back to volunteer her time with this program.

To keep our Seniors active, we had Movement Mondays. Chair Yoga, Bean bag toss, and Table top curling.

To get ready for Easter, we made small Easter topiaries. Perfect size for any easter dinner centerpiece. It was a well participated craft involving gluing plastic eggs onto cone shaped foam. They all turned out very well.

March 27th was our big Easter event, held at the OAP hall. Starting at 10 AM, We had the wonderful Leif David entertain us with amazing magic tricks. The show left most of the audience stunned, wondering how did he do it! The amazing Lumby Lions, cooked and plated a tasty turkey dinner with all of the fixings at 12pm. Dessert was a delicious pistachio pudding.  We had 4 local high school students help us with our event, serving drinks and coffee to the elderly. They were amazing help running plates from the kitchen so everyone was able to eat their dinner hot. It was a wonderful day and we look forward to holding many more events in the future.

We at Whitevalley Community Resource Centre would like to thank all of our amazing volunteers that help make these events happen.

Whitevalley Resource Center would like to thank our sponsors, The United Way, and Interior Health.
