A Great Couple of Days

Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road  or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc.  l have lived in Lumby for over 8 years, you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer:  The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.

Last week we went to Sugar Lake for a couple of days. We haven’t camped there for awhile so it was pretty good. Luckily we went from Tuesday -Thursday as we had forgotten that the fishing derby was on the weekend, otherwise we would not have been able to get the good spot we got. But even though it was mid week there were already a lot of people in their spots before the derby.

Ahh, but as luck would have it, we left in such a hurry we forgot to put things to do in the RV before heading out. We usually pack some books, and games to give us things to do as of course there is no service out there at all so we couldn’t play games or read the news on our phones or laptops. I searched in the RV and VOILA! I found a couple of magazines left over from our Arizona trip, aha, I knew I left them in there for a reason. I made sure to leave them in there again just in case we forget our things the next time. We read them this time at Sugar Lake but if there is nothing else we will read them again.

So, we sat on the beach for most of the time. I am good with this, as I like sitting on the beach and watching all the things going on in and near the lake. There were some ducks, but not many. There were a lot of people going out in their boats, there were a couple of people on paddle boats, standing and or sitting.

Some people tell a rumour that I don’t like the water. On the contrary, I love the water. I love watching the tides come in and out, I love watching all the boats and the people on them, I love being on a large or small boat as a passenger. I love being on the ferries to cross to the island except of course for the price. I love being in the water. What I don’t like or love is the water over my head as I am not a good swimmer. So when I am in a small boat like the one we used to have I wear a life jacket. If  I am on the ferries I don’t wear a life jacket then assuming of course they are safe. If I ever get the chance to take a cruise, I am sure I will love it, but unless it is necessary I probably won’t wear a life jacket then either.

It was a great time those two days, it was nice to get away especially from phones, laptops, and all the other everyday stuff.

It was a little smoky, but not too bad, I sat on the beach doing nothing but enjoying myself with my hat and my sunglasses on, so you know if I was wearing my sunglasses it was of course a Great Day!

I can’t wait until we do this again soon I hope, before it gets too cold to sit on the beach.
