I think I have waited most of my life to finally see the time change happen, as probably most of you did as well. It’s been a long time coming, thank you Government of BC  for finally doing the change. I am sure for the first while, like any new change it might have some downfalls, but we will eventually get used to it.

I know I have been delighted by the great weather we have been having in the last few months, but it definitely will bring some issues in the following months. So now Mother Nature is taking us on a different path. We had great weather for this winter, then on the first day of spring forward with our clocks on Sunday it started to snow, and this morning to my dismay my car was covered in it, but it will probably melt off during the day, as I am not planning on going anywhere today.

The snow is good, we haven’t had enough this year, so even though it’s March and we are getting snow, which may or may not continue through April, it will possibly help with the fires as we didn’t get enough earlier in the season during December, January, and February. That was always a concern of mine in the back of my head; sure, we are having great weather and warmer than usual at this time of year, but how will that affect us? Will it cause more fires? Apparently, yes there is a good possibility unless we get a lot more snow in the next while a lot of BC will unfortunately go up in flames with an increase of drought as well.

According to Environmental Canada, since February 1, 2026  the Okanagan’s snowpack was only 67% and in January it had reached about 90%.

Ah, back to the time change, I am so happy it has finally happened, my mom would have been thrilled, she hated the time change as much as I do. The “Spring Forward” was good, she loved that, but the “Fall Back” again in November sent her for a loop. It really upsets our bodies and our minds. People are more irritable, it causes less sleep in the beginning even though you are supposed to get more. There are more heart attacks and car accidents, students’ grades can slip, so many other horrible things happen when we have to change our clocks back for the winter. I am looking forward to November now without having to change my clocks back, we will see how it goes as there are of course some doubters out there that say it won’t work. It might and it might not, but for me so far I think it will work.

I see the sun is shining, and I predicted the snow is starting to melt off my car, I will be heading out for a walk soon with of course my sunglasses on, as you know what my saying is “it’s always a good day when you can wear sunglasses!”
