Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc. l have lived in Lumby over 8 years you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer: The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.
The day before Valentine’s Day I checked our mailbox. There was something in there for Tim from JW Inglis Elementary. We were both surprised about something that came from the school as we don’t have any children or grandchildren that go there. It was a beautiful card for Valentine’s Day with hearts and words pasted inside the card created by one of the students.
The words printed in the hearts were “you are loving, kind, sweet, smart, brave, beautiful”, this card came with a nice note as well.
It was a very nice gesture, sent out to veterans possibly getting the names and addresses from The Legion.
I don’t know how long the teacher and the students have been doing this, or how many veterans they have sent cards to but here at our house it was appreciated, the card and the note are now on our fridge being held with magnets.
It’s funny how the smallest gift from strangers can help you have a great day.
